You can help the patients by supporting the activities of KKF, by volunteering or donating:

KKF works towards helping cancer patients and their family members to cope up with the crises in their life. Our main objective is to convince the patient that cancer does not necessarily mean the end; it is possible to overcome the disease and lead full life. In line of our mission, KKF has been organizing several activities for the benefits of the patients and their families.

• You can join this movement by volunteering your time to KKF at the Cancer Hospital, Ahmedabad, with a minimum of 2 days in a week. The timings are either 9.00 am to 1.00 pm or 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. You can choose your own convenient time slot and days except Saturday, Sunday & Holidays.
  
  All our volunteers work on honorary basis. No specific qualifications are required except a heart to help and be helpful to others specially the poor and the needy cancer patients. We will provide you the training. So if you are inclined to be of services to mankind, please contact us today.


• We also welcome specialized and committed volunteers, who can assist us on a long-term basis in the following areas:
  Newsletters, Public Relations, Awareness Campaigns, Frequent Web Information Updating, Fund-Raising, Literature Management, Event Management etc.
  
  For the above, we require volunteers with some experience and interest to support our work and give serious time. If you are capable on any one or more of the above, join us today.

We are also appointing Area-wise volunteers who are willing to work 4-8 hours a week from their homes, on various aspects of our activities in supporting cancer patients in their area and organizing awareness programs as per our guidelines and several other activities.

• Individual Donors Scheme

Ahmedabad has India’s largest Cancer Hospital with a capacity of 600 beds. In the year 2003-2004 the cancer hospital has registered 17,317 new cases of cancer, has treated 1,71,394 cases of outdoor patients(OPD) and has undertaken 12,000 major and minor surgeries.

KKF has been supporting this huge task by being a vital link between the doctors and the patients.

Tithi Yojana is a donation scheme for you to remember your loved ones and celebrate occasions and festivals by sharing your joy with the poor and the needy cancer patients.

By donating only Rs 2,500/- per tithi(fixed day of the year) or multiples thereof you can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, festivals,etc with the poor cancer patients, specially children. The amount donated by you under this scheme will form part of a Corpus Fund and the interest will be spent on the designated day in remembrance of your loved ones or in celebration of the occasion in your family by displaying your names on Tithi(dates) selected by you. Names will also be published in our bi-monthly newsletter(KARUNA SAGAR).

There are approximately 60 in-house cancer children at the Pediatric Hospital, all round the year and on an average 80-100 child patients visit the OPD daily for check-up or day-care.

Donations to Karuna Kare Foundation are eligible for deduction U/S 80-G(5) of IT Act, 1961. Karuna Kare Foundation is bearing Exemption No. DIT (E)/80G(5)/684/2004/2005 valid from 19/Nov/2004 to 31/Mar/2006.

In Tithi Yojana, subscribers for 4 or more Tithis from one family will be given the following benefits:

Free medical check up for 4 members of the family (husband & wife) at the Oncology Health Center, Vasna. Medical check-up shall consist of the following tests:

• Routine Blood Examination, for Hemoglobin and ECR
• Routine Urine check-up and microscopic examination
• Blood Sugar estimation ( fasting)
• Serum cholesterol
• Blood Urea for kidney function
• Pap smear test and cervical tests for women
• ECG for heart function
• Sonography (USG, abdominal), Pelvis examination for Liver, Pancreas, Urinary track, Prostrate etc.
• Chest x-ray
• Mammography for woman above the age of 35 years

Over and above these tests, free physical check up by qualified doctors, surgeons and gynecologists as may be necessary. Consultation for giving up tobacco, alcohol etc. will be provided by qualified counselors.

The Oncology Center, Vasna will also provide the following tests at concessional rates:

The Karuna Kare Foundation is the brain child of a cancer patient who by God’s grace, strong will power, understanding and love of family members came through the harsh treatment at the age of 60.

The Karuna Kare Foundation (KKF) is formed with a view to organize active support – social, emotional and financial for patients and their families of all caste, creed or color suffering from life threatening diseases, with a view to make their burden lighter and bearable.

The Karuna Kare Foundation (KKF) has designed two type of Individual Donors Scheme as follows.

1. Scheme A - Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 11,000/-
2. Scheme B - Rs. 11,001/- to Rs. 51,000/-

Under this Scheme, Individual Donors will be given the following benefits:

Under this scheme, individual donors will achieve all the benefits of free medical check up as described in Scheme-A along with free medical insurance against cancer for the husband and wife, inclusive of bonus. This Medical Expense Policy will be issued by New India Insurance Co. Ltd. For treatment at the M. P. Shah Cancer Hospital, Ahmedabad.

• Medical Expensive Policy for Rs. 50,000/- to Rs. 75,000/- with bonus.
• Any couple between the age of 15-70 years in good health can be covered under this policy
• Under this policy between the husband and wife, if cancer is detected in either, the benefits of this policy will go to that spouse and the second spouse will have to take new policy at a special rate of Rs. 2005/- one time premium for life.
• After the first year, donor will get the benefit of special rate of Rs. 50% for complete health check-up for both husband and wife, once every at the oncology health center, Vasna.
• At any stage the cancer is discovered in either of the spouse, Gujarat Cancer Society will give 50% discount on the Chemotherapy treatment, incase expenses are above the insured value.
