Cancer and Support Program for Cancer Patients in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Udaipur, Rajasthan (CASP-III)

According to a data report published by National Cancer Registry Program, over 13 lakh people in India suffer from Cancer yearly. Based on the cancer registry data, it is estimated that there will be about 800,000 new cancer cases in India every year.

Appropriate lifestyle changes can reduce cancer incidence and mortality, and morbidity. An initial checkup is the most cost-effective prevention program as it reduces cancer risk incidence. A proportion of cancers are related to lifestyle changes, and a healthy diet’s importance must be highlighted.

Keeping this in mind, the project will focus on providing diagnostic testing of Cancer through physical examination during health camps with the facilitation of advanced tests and treatments of the suspected cancer patients, which the NGO would follow up till the outcome. The project also intends to provide awareness regarding general health issues and lifestyle changes, focusing on Cancer. The project also proposes continuous community mobilization and awareness sessions with adolescents in schools and colleges for behavior change. In addition, the proposed project includes providing Palliative care for terminal cancer patients.

The project’s ultimate goal is to improve the health status of under privilege communities with a special focus on Cancer through awareness generation, early detection, and access to affordable health services with daycare facilities in different villages of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The target beneficiaries will be approximately 200,000 families (Direct and Indirect) spread across small towns and villages of Ahmedabad district, Gujarat, Udaipur district, and Rajasthan, respectively.

The project will increase access to comprehensive healthcare services with a special focus on Cancer. Early disease detection increases the chances of successful treatment with a special focus on Cancer.

The timeline of the project will be for 2.5 years from the date of start.
